The most common forklift battery charging problem!

At BPS we have seen a lot of battery charging problems. And after having the right battery and wrong charger and having a charger that is just too old, missed Eq chargers is a very common problem we see with the proper charging of forklift batteries.

Every forklift battery needs to receive a equalization charge on a regular schedule. The schedule varies depending on the usage. Batteries that get heavy use, 2 to 3 shifts a day, should be Eq charged once a week. Batteries that get lighter use could see a schedule of once a month.

The important thing is that the battery does get scheduled equalization chargers.

Not EQ charging causes the battery to sulfate and to get hot. This in turn effects the run time of the forklift.

Correcting the problem!

Getting your batteries on a EQ charge schedule is easy. Most modern chargers allow you to program the EQ charge to go off automatically at a set day and time.

But manually EQ charging your batteries is just as easy. Almost every charger has a manual EQ charge button on it’s face. Just push the EQ to manually start the EQ charging process. This is most commonly done over a weekend or an extended work break.
